2025 Competition
Poiesis is an annual April Poetry competition that began at the University of Toronto Schools (UTS).
The aim was to encourage students grades 7-12 to submit an original piece of poetry using a weekly prompt for inspiration.
Writing sessions were held twice during April at the UTS Poetry Society for poets to come in and create, edit, and revise their submissions.
This first iteration was graciously judged by Mr. Carswell (Languages Department Coordinator) and Dr. Tavares (Deputy Principal).
2025 was a remarkable success, with students from every grade entering the competition.
The four laureates were announced in front of the entire school as a testament to their achievement. They were also awarded gift cards as a prize.
With a generous sponsor, 2026 will boast a larger cash prize for the winners.
